Little Fireman

Ryan was putting on his fireman's gear in excitement of his upcoming birthday. He knows that the theme for his party is firetrucks.

He even has a pack that contains about a gallon of water and a hose that sprays it.

Dock-a-doo-doo?!?!?!?

I got Ryan a new book today - it had a picture of a rooster in it. Figuring he didn't know what that I was I said: "Look a bird". To which I was corrected... "That's not a bird, that's a dock-a-doo-doo".
Needless to say I was in hysterics after that. So we recorded it for all to enjoy.

Day Out with Thomas!!!

The first thing we do is park at the high school and climb aboard a school bus. This day just keeps getting better and better and we haven't even gotten there yet. :)

Look at me Mommy!

Sir Topham Hat.

As if the school bus wasn't enough now we get to climb into a fire truck. We even got to blow the horn.

They had these train tables all setup under a big tent so the kiddos could play with them.

Not sure he liked the slide but I made him go at least once.

Finally!!!! We got aboard Thomas!!!!

I don't know how much more realistic they can make this.

After a long day with Thomas we are finally heading back to the car. Ryan was asleep about 3 minutes after this picture and slept the whole way home.

Relay for Life

Every year the Relay for Life comes to our high school - which is about 1/2 mile from our house - and invariably, Ryan is sick. This year, he was in fine Ryan form, so we went to the track to lend our support to all of our friends.

This is Ryan and Rita - Rita and her family are just good people - they took us under their wing when we joined the church and have been such a wonderful support system for us.

St. Louis Zoo

Well it took us forever to get these pictures but here they are at last!! We spent Memorial day in St. Louis with Grandma and Grandpa Riek (not to mention Maxx). On Saturday we went to the zoo.

At the hippo tank Ryan seemed more interested in the fish then hippos.

a

Of course it wouldn't be a trip to the zoo without a picture at the snake. This is about as close as Ryan was willing to get. He's kind of scared of the snake.

Raja the elephant in fine form.

The train (needless to say) was a huge hit.

Weee!!!!

Stop bugging me daddy!!!

Petting the goats.

Hey that's my bench!!!

There are a couple of really cool tunnel slides in a nice play area for the kiddos.

Ribbet!!!

The people running this carousel are not exactly quick. We sat on the zebra for almost 10 minutes before it finally started. The funny part however is that it started pouring rain while we were waiting for the carousel to start. Looks like Ryan and I found a good spot to wait out the rain. By the time we got off the rain had quit.

After the carousel with finished the day at the zoo by what else? A trip to Ted Drew's. For those of you who aren't familair with them it is a legendary custard shop on Route 66 not too far from the zoo. SUPER YUMMY!!!!!
